Mick Ralphs Blues Band Update
A statement from all of us in the band, it’s a bit lengthy but please bear with us.
Firstly Mick and ourselves would like to thank you all for your kind words, well wishes and the general outpouring of love since Mick had his stroke. We may not reply to all but all are read and appreciated and Mick himself said how much it meant to him on Saturday when we saw him.
Mick is making progress and working hard with his rehab but as anyone who has experienced the effects of strokes knows, it is a long road with no certainties where timescale is concerned.
We want Mick to fully focus on his recovery and put no undue pressure on himself and this is why we have made the decision together as a band to wind things up. It’s not a decision we have taken lightly but our only priority is Mick and his health going forwards.
We are immensely proud of what we have built in the Mick Ralphs Blues Band, both our live shows and our recent album. As anyone that saw us play in our recent U.K. tour can attest to none of us especially Mick were resting on our laurels and we felt we were going from strength to strength. So to call things quits with a roar and a smile at the top of our game seems fitting for a band built around one of the all time greats of British music and a truly humble and beautiful man, Mick Ralphs.
We would all like to say thank you to each other for the laughs and silliness, the fun on the road, the stories, the odd tipple, the Barry Norman pickled onions, the unwavering support and love from you lot, oh and of course that wonderful music we had the privilege to play every now and then.
Thanks to everyone who’s been a part of this bands journey, too many to name them all but from Gordon to Pete to Spencer, booking agents to sound men, roadies, former band members, merch sellers, friends, family and everyone else in between.
Going forward we will continue being what we always have been, good mates having a laugh and a giggle together, just from now on not on a stage in front of you lovely lot!
Peace and love x
Mick, Jim, Dicky, Damon and Adam xx
“Following the Bad Company UK tour that wound up last Saturday at London’s 02 Arena the family and representatives of the band’s co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Mick Ralphs are sad to announce that Mick has suffered a stroke.
“Mick is receiving excellent medical care and is recovering in hospital, although all his public engagements are necessarily on hold, pending his improvement.
“Everyone is wishing Mick a speedy recovery, and further news will be announced at the appropriate time. “

The Mick Ralphs Blues Band: If It Ain’t Broke CDFor someone so instantly recognized as a rock guitar icon in his own right, Mick Ralphs has never really shown the public the influences on his playing. That is until now … that is until he was able to form The Mick Ralphs Blues Band. Mick’s heroes – Steve Cropper, Freddie King, all loved playing in clubs and Mick needed to get back there too. In 2011, between Mott The Hoople and Bad Company tours, Mick found himself at the legendary Nags Head music venue in High Wycombe. Joining the house band on stage for a few numbers, Mick did what he’s always done – played tasty, economical guitar solos with his trusty Les Paul, to the gathered crowd. It’s what he’s always done – what he’s renowned for.
From small acorns grew The Mick Ralphs Blues Band. Not formed just to trade on a name. Not formed just to play a set of classic tunes by one of its members (lest we forget Mr Ralphs is STILL a member of Mott The Hoople AND Bad Company.) This band was formed out of a respect for a genre of music that has influenced all its members. Of course the band tip their hat to a few of those solid gold tunes but the band has its own identity, its own feel.
Most fans have seen Mick Ralphs at a distance. In stadiums around the world. In huge venues where he is part of that elite “Rock Star” club. With his latest project, Mick gets back to his roots. You won’t see banks of Marshalls; you’ll see a beautifully battered and beaten combo. You’ll see a guitar great up close and personal, coaxing notes from his guitar, with passion, with love but still with a glimmer of fun in his eye.

Bad Co: Deluxe Editions
For the first time ever, Bad Company has remastered Bad Company (1974) and Straight Shooter (1975) using the original tapes to create new Deluxe Editions. Each set includes a newly remastered version of the original album, along with a second disc of rare and unreleased recordings. The CD versions of these Deluxe Editions include all of the newly discovered bonus tracks, while their 180-gram vinyl counterparts offer a selection of the bonus material.
For the Bad Company album, the second disc of the Deluxe Edition features 12 tracks, including eight previously unreleased recordings such as the demo for the ballad “The Way I Choose,” a take of “Bad Company” recorded right before the album version, and an unedited version of “Superstar Woman,” a song that Rodgers later recorded in 1983 for his solo album Cut Loose. Also featured is the single edit of “Can’t Get Enough,” and the b-sides “Little Miss Fortune” and “Easy On My Soul.”
Of the 14 bonus tracks issued with Straight Shooter, all are previously unreleased except the b-side “Whiskey Bottle.” Among the standouts is a stripped-down version of “Shooting Star,” a remix of “Good Lovin’ Gone Bad” with alternative guitar and vocals tracks, as well as two lost gems, never released before: “See The Sunlight” and “All Night Long.”
Competition: Invite-only event with Bad Company Guitarist
On April 6, Bad Company are releasing deluxe versions of their first two albums, Bad Company and Straight Shooter. To mark the occasion, TeamRock Radio’s Nicky Horne will be hosting a special event with the band’s Mick Ralphs at Gibson Studios in London … and you could be there.
Both Bad Company and Straight Shooter, famous for tracks like Can’t Get Enough, Good Lovin’ Gone Bad and Feel Like Makin’ Love, have been re-mastered from the original multi-track tapes and are accompanied by previously unreleased tracks, takes and mixes. At the event fans will get the chance to listen to some of the unreleased material, and to hear from Mick Ralphs.
